BEYOND SELF-DEFENCE

Many self-defence programmes and martial arts classes naturally focus on developing physical skills. Whilst these skills undoubtedly have value, managing non-consensual aggression in everyday life requires much more than physical ability alone.

At Everyday Safe, we believe personal safety begins long before physical action is ever required. Awareness, prevention, communication and sound decision-making are often the most effective ways to reduce risk and avoid harm.

Our workshops combine practical personal safety skills with expertise in education, risk management, human performance and UK law. This broader perspective helps participants recognise developing situations earlier, assess risk more effectively and respond with greater confidence.

The result is a practical, balanced approach that develops better awareness, stronger judgement and safer everyday habits, helping reduce the likelihood that physical intervention is ever required.

MEET THE TEAM

Practical experience. Educational expertise. Real-world risk management.

Everyday Safe has been developed by a multidisciplinary team bringing together expertise from personal safety, education, human performance, martial arts, risk management, health and wellbeing, and UK law.

Rather than relying on a single viewpoint, our workshops combine complementary disciplines to provide a more holistic perspective, helping participants make better decisions, reduce risk and build confidence in everyday life.

Together, the team has many decades of experience working across education, high-hazard industries, martial arts and self-protection, health and fitness, community safety and professional legal practice.

What People Are Saying

faq

Do I need any previous experience?

No. Everyday Safe is designed specifically for beginners, and no previous experience is required. Our workshops are accessible, supportive and suitable for people of different ages, backgrounds and confidence levels.

Is this a martial arts course?

No. Whilst we do cover simple, practical physical safety skills where appropriate, Everyday Safe takes a much broader approach. Our workshops focus on awareness, prevention, communication, decision-making and practical strategies that can help reduce risk before physical action ever becomes necessary.

Will I have to take part in physical activities?

Practical exercises form an important part of the learning experience, but you'll never be asked to do anything you're uncomfortable with. Participants are encouraged to work within their own capabilities, and all activities can be adapted where appropriate.

Can workshops be tailored for organisations?

Yes. Alongside our public workshops, we deliver tailored programmes for businesses, schools, colleges, charities and community groups. Content can be adapted to suit your audience, environment and objectives.

Do you deliver workshops outside Cumbria?

Yes. Whilst we are focussed on delivering workshops throughout Cumbria, we're also happy to discuss opportunities to deliver training elsewhere in the UK.
